Waiting For The Sale January 21, 2009

dscf0139Today I realized an added benefit to planning ahead and being prepared.  It’s being able to take advantage of when the things that you need go on sale!

If I were to wait till the last minute to purchase everything I need for when the baby comes the expense would be outrageous!  As it stands though, ever since I got pregnant I’ve started to stock up.  When diapers go on sale and I have a coupon I can buy them now.  I’m getting a variety of NB and size 1′s since I’m sure he’ll grow out of the NB’s fairly quickly (Maddie was 8 lbs 3 oz!)  I’m also stocking up on the other essentials, and WATCHING for good deals on a crib and carseat, and the other big ticket items.

Besides taking advantage of when things are cheaper, this way will also spread out the cost of the items.  Instead of having to purchase a bunch of diapers right off the bat, I’ll be able to continue to buy them when they go on sale!

The trick to this is to always keep a list with you of things you need/want.  I would also write down the price of wherever you have found it for the cheapest (and location).  Then when you are out and about and you see it on “sale” somewhere you can check it against your cheapest price to see if it’s really a deal or not.

Good luck and happy deal shopping!
