I work the help desk at home for an IT company.  I’ve been running across several viruses lately and each time I’d search how to remove that particular virus I’d always be brought back to the same tool.  I’d download it and run it and it would nuke that virus!  It’s called Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware or mbam.  Just open up a google search and type mbam and the first item to be pulled up will be www.malwarebytes.org

It is a fantastic free program that scans VERY quickly.  It’s really only looking for the most malicious software out there that it knows about so it’s not scanning through every single file.  It obviously will not replace regular scanning with a good virus scanner, but when you are infected it’s FABULOUS.

Another thing I like about this tool is that it’s not that difficult to use.  I have other tools I use for particularly stubborn viruses, but you usually have to know what you are doing to use those tools or you could turn your computer into an expensive brick.  MBAM won’t destroy any system files, and only focuses on certain programs.
