The Simplest Method For Cleaning Window Tracks

I have a love/hate relationship with cleaning window tracks. I love the satisfaction of starting with something really and truly dirty, then making it gleam. But, I hate how the dirt settles into all the nooks and corners of the window tracks, with the result being gleaming window tracks, except for that dirt stuck in those corners over there. But the dirt can be conquered!

Here is an easy and fool proof method when it comes to cleaning window tracks.

Grab Your Supplies:

For this job you’ll need an old toothbrush, cotton swabs, paper towels or cleaning cloths and a non abrasive powder cleaner. I used baking soda and vinegar, but if you prefer, you can use something like Comet or Bar Keeper’s Friend and a little bit of hot water.

Make a Paste:

Sprinkle the baking soda into the tracks and add a little vinegar to make a paste. Spread the paste around and let sit for about 10 minutes or so. Again, if you aren’t using baking soda, a non abrasive powder cleaner and hot water works just as well.

Scrub:

Scrub the stubborn spots with an old toothbrush or small scrub brush.

Wipe Up:

Use the paper towels or cleaning cloths to mop up all the dirty, watery paste. The paste should have loosened up the dirt in the corners so hopefully it wipes right up with a paper towel. Use the cotton swabs to get into the smallest, tightest areas.

There you have it-the simplest method for gleaming clean window tracks! This is a simple job so you can get your children involved. They’ll love the baking soda/vinegar reaction and scrubbing with old toothbrushes!

Assuming you have followed the steps above, your window tracks should now be clean and free of any dirt, grime or build-up. Give them a final once-over to make sure you didn’t miss anything, then sit back and enjoy your clean windows!
