Do you have someone in your life that’s obsessed with mermaids? We are going to go over all the details to help you throw the best mermaid birthday party for them.

Best Mermaid Birthday Party Ever

Mermaids have been popular for decades – and for good reason – they are whimsical, mysterious and evoke wonder in people of all ages.

So if you love someone who is obsessed with mermaids, then let us help you throw a party to remember.

Mermaid Birthday Invitations

One of the first things you’ll want to decide on is the mermaid birthday party invitation.

A good invite not only lets your guest know the time and place, it also gives them an idea of what the party theme will be.

Some mermaid party invites say “Splish Splash it’s a Birthday Bash.” These would be perfect if you’re planning on going swimming, or even having sprinklers or a small pool at the party.

There is also a cute pack of “Magical Glitter” Mermaid Birthday Invites on Amazon. These read, “Please Join Us Under the Sea”. They also come with fun matching envelopes.

Mermaid Party Decorations

Decorations can make a really big impact on a party. Decorating well can really make a party come to life and allow people to feel like they are expereienceing something new and exciting.

It’s one of the best ways to look like you put a lot of effort into decorating for your party is with a balloon arch!

Don’t worry – you don’t need to pay  someone to make a ballon arch for you. Amazon currently sells a Mermaid Party Decorations Packwith everything you need to make your own Mermaid Tail Balloon Arch. It comes with a backdrop and table cloth, a balloon arch support, glue dots, ribbons, plus over 80 balloons.

And it currently has a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. Check it out!

These mermaid garlands would be another fun touch to add to the party. They are 52 feet of pearl holographic paper, and showcase mermaids, jellyfish, starfish, and seashells.

Cupcakes and Cookies

If you’re going to go all out for a party, then its super fun to serve food that fits the theme. I think that these cute mermaid cookie cutters would be the perfect touch to a mermaid birthday party.

This set includes three different cookie cutters: a mermaid tail, a star fish, and a seashell. It also comes with a recipe booklet.

If you don’t feel like you have enough time to make sugar cookies, you could always make cupcakes and then let the kids decorate the cupcakes themselves.

Plus, check out these cute mermaid sprinkles! Even if you don’t make your own cookies or cupcakes you could always throw these on some icecream for the kids.

Mermaid Party Activities

Go Swimming

A swimming party might be the most traditional way to celebrate at a mermaid party. You could take the party to a community swimming pool, or even put up a small kiddie pool in your yard if the weather permits.

Diving Games

While at the pool, it would be fun to take little diving toys and have the kids dive for them. You could attach a sticker or string to one of them and whoever grabs that toy gets a prize.

Everyone has to swim like a mermaid of course!

Another fun swimming mermaid party game would be synchronized swimming or synchronized diving.

Non-water Mermaid Party Games

If you don’t want to go swimming though – no worries! It can be a lot of extra work and worry to throw a pool party.

So if you’re looking for something on dry land, there are plenty of other fun mermaid themed activities you can do for a mermaid party. I have three ideas listed below:

Pin the Tail on the Mermaid

Amazon offers a cute “Pin the Tail on the Mermaid”. It comes with a blindfold and everything you need for ten people to play. The stickers are reusable, so if you wanted to play multiple times you could.

Mermaid Treasure Hunt

You could also send your little mermaids looking for treasure with a  “Mermaid Treasure Hunt”. There are a few printables you can purchase on Etsy that would be fun and easy to set up. Or you can create your own clues.

This is something that would require a little planning ahead, but many of the clues can be placed in common areas throughout the house. For example one clue says, “As quick as a flick of a mermaid’s tail, head to the place where we receive our mail.”

At the end of the treasure hunt it would be fun to place a treasure chest with chocolate gold coins and pretend Pearl Necklaces

Mermaid Tail Potato Sack Race Game

Have you ever raced in a potato sack competition? They are silly and fun, and kids really love them.

Someone brilliant thought to create potato sacks  with mermaid tails printed on them. How cute is that?

Amazon sells a set of twelve “mermaid tail potato sacks”. Reviewers say they are even large enough for adults to use if they wanted to join in on the fun.

Your guests are sure to love putting on their mermaid tales and racing each other on dry land.

Mermaid Party Favors

Party favors aren’t necessarily needed, but they make a fun impact. Kids especially like taking them home to keep celebrating the day, even after the party is over.

The first thing you’ll need for your party favors are some cute Mermaid Bags to put the little gifts in. Amazon is selling these adorable purple, pink, and teal set of 24 “Under The Sea” bags. They also come with a cute Thank You sticker that says, “Thank you for making my party a splash!”

Next, you’ll need fun favors to put into the bags. I like this 24 pack of Mermaid Wristbands that say, “I’m A Mermaid” on them.

There’s also these fun shimmery Temporary Mermaid Tattoos. And these sweet Mermaid Tail Straws

I hope this helps you throw a Mermaid Party to remember!
