Get a Jump Start on Your Goals for 2021

I know many of us are looking forward to 2021 with a renewed hope for better days and a determination to do better on our individual goals. In my opinion, it’s never too early to get a jump start on your goals and intentions.

Setting and accomplishing goals works best when you can get into a motivated mindset. I’ve listed five actions you can take to help set yourself up for success with any goal.

Know Exactly What You Want

Be specific, and have a specific time frame. It’s not enough to say “I want to be successful.” You must say, “I want to write a New York Times best seller before I’m 40.” It’s not enough to say, “I want to be wealthy.” Narrow it down into specifics with a statement like, “I want to make $100,000 within the next year.”

Some experts even suggest setting your goal for a specific day and time. For example, “I will weigh 150 pounds by 4:00 pm on Saturday November 2nd.”

Have Gratitude For What You Already Have

It’s much easier to work towards something with excitement and joy than it is with hate and drudgery. If you want to lose weight, you’ll have a better time approaching your weight loss journey from a place of love and gratitude for your body, than a place of hate and punishment.

Focus Your Thoughts

Keep your goal in mind. The best way to keep focused on your goal is to write it down and read it everyday. Create a goal journal where you can write your goal down everyday and record the daily actions you’re taking to accomplish your goal.

Feel excitement, gratitude, and love when you imagine yourself obtaining your goal.

Be dedicated. Whenever you notice your thoughts drifting to something you don’t want, refocus them on your goal and what you want.

If you want to become abundantly wealthy, then focus on the abundance you already have. Even if it’s only an extra $10. Focus on the fact that you are abundant, feel the joy in that acknowledgment, and move your focus away from the fact that it’s a smaller increment than what you desire.

Be Accountable For Your Actions

You can think, plan, and hope for something all day, but if you’re not taking action toward your goals then it won’t happen. This is the part where most people get overwhelmed. Break down the major accomplishments you want to achieve into monthly, weekly, and daily actions.

Start with something that is manageable for you. If you’re a couch potato and you want to run a half marathon, start with a walking program. If the thought of writing your novel feels overwhelming, start with an outline. Do something to create momentum towards your goal, and feel proud of yourself when you do those small daily actions. They will become easier and easier, and you will be amazed at the progress you can make by just holding yourself accountable for your small daily actions.

Believe You Are Worthy Of What You Want

John Assaraf said, “One of the strongest factors for success is self-esteem: believing you can do it, believing you deserve it, and believing you’ll get it.”

If you have low self-esteem, this quote might feel disheartening, but one of the best ways to build your confidence and your self-esteem is to take steps towards your goal – no matter how uncomfortable or insecure it makes you feel. The very act of moving towards your goal will build your confidence. Then the more confident you are, the more you believe in yourself, and the more you believe in yourself, the more you work towards your goal. It becomes a positive cycle of action and confidence.

Build a strong belief that you are worthy of what you want. Believe that all people are here in life to obtain happiness – even you.
