If you have a sink full of dishes, get to work on these first! If you really put your mind to it you can clean up this mess in about 5-10 minutes. Even quicker if you have a dishwasher! If you have a family member handy, ask them to dry while you wash or vice versa. Don’t fret about putting them away, at least if they are drying in the strainer they are much better then sitting dirty in the sink.

Speed Vacuum

Vacuuming is probably the best chore you can do in your 30 minutes time frame. Focus on rooms that your company will be in, such as the living room and kitchen. Run the vacuum over the area around your couches and any area rugs your guests might walk on when entering the house. If you have hardwood or tile floor, use the extension tool on the vacuum to clean the area the best you can or you can dust mop any debris into a pile and use the same took to get rid of the mess. Also, make sure that you run the vacuum over any surfaces that your guests might sit on like couches that your pets like to reside on.

Hide Your Dirty Laundry

Okay, your laundry might not be dirty. It might just be sitting in a pile on your couch waiting to be folded. But, that will do you no good when your company arrives and sees the mess. Grab one of your many baskets and toss the clothes into it and haul it off to your bedroom or laundry room, wherever you can to get it out of the way from your primary living spaces. You can fold it and put it away later.

Wipe Off Surfaces

Use you favorite antibacterial wipes or microfiber cloths and get to work on the most visible surfaces in your house. You don’t have to go too in depth, but make sure that crumbs and other sticky things that your kids leave behind are cleaned up. Focus on your kitchen counters, dining room tables, and side tables. For any wood or delicate surfaces, grab your favorite duster and do a few quick passes over the area.

Finishing Touches

To add a little something to your quick cleaning, light a candle and spray some air freshener to make the area smell delightful. If it is warm outside, open a window to let some fresh air into the space as well. If there are any toys or clothes hanging around that are out of place, see if you can find a home for them too.

You won’t be able to get your entire house clean in a half an hour, but you really can make it look presentable or take some of the burden off of what you will have to get done later on. Speed cleaning is also a good way to upkeep your home throughout the week if you don’t have time for a super in-depth deep clean every single day. Speed clean your house!
