Dropcam HD Wi-Fi Wireless Video Camera Review and GIVEAWAY!

UPDATE: Giveaway is now closed. Thank you everyone who participated!

I recently went back to work full-time, and I am so excited to share with you my new favorite tech device that helps keep our kids safe and secure while I am away. Introducing… the Dropcam!

The Dropcam is a high-definition WiFi video camera for home or work. It displays a high quality picture that works beautifully with a laptop or computer. Plus, with the free mobile app, you can watch remotely from your iPhone, iPad or Android device too! The Dropcam has some really cool additional features as well. It also has two-way audio that works with a built-in microphone and speaker. That means I can not only see, but also hear everything going on in my home. I can also speak to my kids as they move about the house. Seriously, so cool!

My other favorite Dropcam feature is the ability to receive motion and sound alerts by email or device notifications. Every time someone comes in or out of my home, I receive an alert to my phone. This is fabulous for me because I want to know if my kids are arriving home on time from school, but as I am at work, I can’t sit and watch the camera feed all day long. The camera has fabulous night vision, so this is also a great feature for evenings, and when you are away from home.

Here’s a peak at my two teens just after arriving home from school. They are supposeds to come home and do their homework first thing… looks like these two are prioritizing their day with cell phone time and snacks first. :)

Our camera sits directly above our kitchen cabinets, and the wide angle lens allows me to see perfectly into our kitchen, family room, and if you look closely you can even see the front door. I love that I can see so many areas just from this one camera!

There are  many other fabulous features with the Dropcam! You can share your stream with friends, or make it public and show the world your feed through the Dropcam website. (I have seen several pet stores do this. Think adorable puppies twenty-four hours a day!)  You can also focus on what’s happening in one area of the room with the cameras digital zoom feature. Don’t want your camera running all day long? You can take  schedule the camera to turn on and off based on the time of day. The folks at Dropcam have really thought of everything!

The cost of a Dropcam camera is $149, and this comes with the free Dropcam Live service. That means you can login and watch from your devices anytime, day or night. This also includes motion and sound detection, and email or smartphone alerts. If you want your video stream to be recorded, rates start at under $10 a month. (Go HERE to learn more.)

Allrighty, now that you have heard all about my absolute favorite tech device, it’s time for a GIVEAWAY! Dropcam has graciously donated one Dropcam camera for one lucky Organized Mom reader. Wahoo! All you need to do to enter is just leave a comment below telling us where in your home you would place your Dropcam. That’s it! Super easy.

I would have it set up where it faces my living room, dining room, and going into the other room. I will be able to see quite a bit from that angle.

  2. Tara

I would place it in our school room probably. It would be nice to see whats happening when my son is suppose to be doing independent work and I’m out of the room doing housework. :)

  3. Alison

I would love to put this on top of my refrigerator. From you could see straight into the dinning room and living room, and also a bit of the entryway.

  4. Yona

I’d like to put it facing my backyard so that I can see who eats my garden goodies and or facing the front yard to see who tramples the flowers. I’m sure my Dad would have a field day with this camera.

My husband has been wanting something like this so I would let him choose…but most likely it would be outside facing our door or near the entry way in our home! Thanks for the chance!

I am brand new to your blog and would LOVE this! This would be perfect for our great room to check in when we use babysitters.

First I would point it towards the back yard. Weird things have been going on back there at night. Our gnomes have been moved around.

  8. Janette

I’d put it in our living room/front entrance since it’s not easily seen from other areas of the house.

Well, there are many places that this would come in handy– but I think in the corner of the babies room that points into the living room–so it would be able to watch more at one time–especially when we are not home– thanks for the giveaway

I would put the dropcam in my kitchen to see what my kids are doing…also because I could turn it to point out the window and keep track of them on the swingset/junglegym.

If put it in our living room to catch the most action since that’s where we are the most throughout the day! Thanks

So when you call, bbe sure you khow who you are actually speaking with.
Will you be able to pay expenses like the registration, title and tax fees.

When you shop ffor cars when the demand is high
and supply is low it puts you at a distinct disadvantage.
