There are so many ways to save money if you just know where to look. From cutting coupons to downloading apps from your favorite stores, there are so many new and advantageous opportunities to keep your cash in your wallet than ever before. One area of our lives that can eliminate all of that extra cash is our pursuit of all things beauty. From getting our hair done to different cosmetic procedures, personal care can be quite expensive. However, there are a few different at home beauty treatments you can do to save money on your routines.

Do Your Own Hair

One of the simplest ways you can save money on your beauty routine is to learn how to style and upkeep your own hair. There are many products on the market that can provide you with excellent grey coverage for a fraction of the price of going to the salon for highlights or a full dye job. Even better, teach yourself how to blow out your own hair. Learn to style it so that you feel like you just paid a lot of money in the salon.

Do you have a friend that has some cosmetology experience? Ask her if she’d be willing to cut your hair on the side or teach you a few simple tricks! Youtube is also great for learning new fun ways to do your hair.  Especially when you need a fancy updo for a formal occasion or something unique for your killer Halloween costume.

Skip the Pedicure

Okay, I’m not saying don’t upkeep your nails and toenails! But, why not learn to do it yourself? There are so many at home kits you can buy to give yourself a French manicure that looks just as good as if you got your nails done at your favorite shop. Also, with a trip to your favorite department store, you can buy several different shades of nail polish to add vibrant color to your toes for the cost of one pedicure! Invest in a good nail kit to upkeep your nail beds and get rid of any cuticles too! Painting your nail or toes at home can also be something fun you do with your kids as well. Save the trip to the nail salon for a special occasion, such as a wedding or Mother’s Day instead.

Make Your Own Treatments and Cosmetics

If you are into making things yourself this will be right up your alley. There are a lot of simple facial scrubs and washes that you can make yourself at home with simple ingredients such as honey and baking soda. With the right ingredients, you can even make your own makeup at home too! You may even be able to create some awesome makeup recipes with simple things you already have right in your kitchen such as olive oil and cocoa powder! Some of the most effective facial cleaners cost next to nothing. You can make a great face toner out of apple cider vinegar and water and an awesome mask out of oatmeal with milk, yogurt or coconut oil.  These suggestions are not only cost effective but they are also better for your skin than most beauty store products you can purchase at your local drugstore.
