Keurig K-Compact Overview

If you know your way around coffee makers, then you’ve surely heard the ‘Keurig’ name once or twice. For the past 30 years, Keurig has become synonymous with high-quality coffee machines.

The K-Compact is no different. Its single-serve option makes it Keurig’s smallest brewer.

Being small, it doesn’t have much room for fancy buttons and features. Although, it does come with a removable reservoir for added convenience.

Compared with Keurig’s other ‘compact’ models, this is the smallest with a removable water reservoir. Other models, like the K-Mini and K-Mini Plus, are smaller in size, but they come with built-in tanks.

The K-Slim is also on the small side, but its reservoir is larger than any of the models we mentioned above. It comes with a whopping 46-ounce tank, but it’s hard to reach it unless you have overhead clearance.

  • Offers three brew sizes: 6, 8, and 10 ounces
  • The 36-ounce water reservoir can make between four to six cups
  • Weighs 6.9 pounds when empty
  • Dimensions: 8 inches wide x 12.5 inches high x 13 inches deep
  • Button control panel
  • Automatic shut-off feature for added safety 2 hours after the last brew
  • Removable drip tray and water reservoir

  • Fast brewing time
  • Compatible with all types of coffee pods
  • Can fit in travel mugs up to 7 inches tall
  • Lightweight
  • User-friendly button control panel to pick the perfect brew size

  • The water reservoir is in the back of the machine, which makes it harder to access
  • Lacks temperature control, programs, and timer
  • Doesn’t come with a water filter kit

Price and Warranty

The Keurig K-Compact is in the category of high-quality coffee machines under $100. It’s one of Keurig’s most affordable models. Even compared with other brands, the K-Compact is considered great value for the price.

A nice benefit is it comes with a one-year warranty. If anything happens to your K-Compact, the company will either fix it or replace it with a new one. So, save your receipt as proof of the purchase date just in case.

Keurig K-Compact General Features

We went out and did all the hard work so you won’t have to. From design to features and performance, this review has it all!

In this segment, we’ll give you all the nitty-gritty details. After that, you can decide for yourself whether this coffee maker is right for you.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Keurig K-Compact Single Serve coffee machine is its slim design. It takes up almost no space on your kitchen counter.

It’s the perfect pick for dorms and small apartments. Even if you have plenty of space, you may just not like cluttering your kitchen with bulky gadgets.

Another great design feature is its 36-ounce water reservoir. You’ll find a line drawn on the tank that tells you where the water should reach.

We also like that you can remove the tank. Compared with other models that have built-in reservoirs, this one is easier to use and clean.

The K-Compact can accommodate all types of cups, from the tall to the small. Now, you can enjoy your delicious beverage in the comfort of your own home. Gone are the days of wasting time and money at the local coffee shops.

You can also slide in your travel mug and take your coffee to go. As long as it’s not over seven inches tall, you’re all good!

Here’s a handy tip for you: if your travel mug is taller than seven inches, it can still fit it in the K-Compact. All you have to do is remove the drip tray!

Brewing Time

In a hurry? Have no fear, the K-Compact has a quick brewing time of one minute. So, you’re always just a few seconds away from enjoying one kind of smooth-tasting beverage or another!

Keep in mind that when you first power on the machine, it can take close to four minutes to warm up. Afterward, the brewing process goes much faster. In fact, you can brew up to five cups of coffee in under six minutes. Just make sure you have enough water in the tank.

Finally, the auto shut-off function powers off the machine two hours after its last brew. This is one of our favorite features because it saves energy and cuts back on your electrical bills.

Care and Maintenance

No-fuss, hassle-free maintenance is one feature that stands out with this coffee maker. Since all the parts are detachable, cleaning the K-Compact is a straightforward process.

All you have to do is remove the drip tray, water tank, and pod holder. Rinse with some mild soap and lukewarm water. Finally, leave to dry on a towel or dish rack.

The main body is just as easy to keep clean. It’s made of hard plastic and can be easily wiped with a damp cloth. Make sure you remove the power cord before wiping it down as a safety precaution.

Experts recommend you give your K-Compact a light cleaning once a week. Descaling, or deep cleaning, the machine should be done once every six months.

Special Features

In this section, we’ll talk about a couple of the K-Compact’s more unique features. These are the features that make this coffee machine stand out from its competition.

Button Control Panel

With the K-Compact, enjoying a cup of fresh-brewed coffee is as easy as pressing a simple button. There’s a power button and three ‘brew size’ buttons to help you select the brew size you want.

Next to the power button, there’s a light that blinks when water levels drop in the reservoir. It comes in handy when you don’t remember when you filled the tank last.

What you won’t get with this machine are any fancy features. There are no timers, programs, or temperature controls. It’s just a simple, straightforward, easy-to-use coffee maker.

The K-Compact got its name from its slim and slender design. This sleek coffee machine stands at 12.5 inches high. When opened, it can measure over 16 inches high.

It stands a little more than eight inches wide and 13 inches deep. We especially like that it can handle tall travel mugs, which makes it both user-friendly and practical.

It’s also lightweight, making it easy to transport and store.

Even though this is a compact machine, it’s highly versatile and resourceful. With this Keurig model, you’re not obligated to buy K-cups, which are more expensive. You can use any pod you want and save money.

In fact, you’ll be happy to know that there are over 260 brands of coffee pods to choose from. This long list includes names like Starbucks, Maxwell House, Twinings of London, and more!

Another option is to get a refillable filter pod and fill it with your own special blend. You can even mix the contents of two different flavored pods and create your unique, signature blend.

Then, if that weren’t enough, it can make other beverages besides coffee! You can make hot chocolate, tea, iced beverages, and much more!

As we were trying the K-Compact out, we noticed that it was more suited for people who prefer lighter brews. There’s no way to control the richness or strength of the brew. It only depends on the type of pod you put in.

You can also use the K-Compact like a kettle to boil water. Anytime you need some hot water, just fill the tank. Place it in the machine, then choose the cup size you want. A couple of minutes later, you’ll have a mug full of steaming, hot water.

Final Verdict

So, is the Keurig K-Compact for you? If you’re looking for a slim, hassle-free, affordable coffee machine, then yes!

You’ll have to do without a few high-tech features. Yet, you still get to enjoy the Keurig signature system for brewing smooth, delicious coffee.

In the mood for some tea or hot chocolate? The K-Compact does that too! Just slide in the pod of your choice and put your mug in place.

Then, press the button, wait a couple of minutes, and voila! Your drink is ready and waiting!
