Once you try these hacks, you will be just as excited as I am to show them off.

Let’s dive into these 40 genius towel organization hacks that will change your life.

Add Rods to the Door

Here’s a quick hack for towel storage: Add rods to the inside of your door.

You can do this by drilling holes in either side of your door, then fitting in hooks that will hold up to five or six towels each. (If you want to be extra clever, use bars instead of hooks and hang two towels on each one.) If you don’t have any tools at home and are in need of a little DIY inspiration, try taking apart a coat hanger and modifying it into what we like to call a “towel rod hanger”—they’re great for adding more hanging space without having to screw anything into your wall!

Wire Basket Over-the-Door Rack

When it comes to towel organization, this is one of the most genius hacks.

Simply take an over-the-door wire rack and screw it into the wall above your bathroom door. Then hang your towels on each of the bars so that when you open the door, a stream of neatly folded towels come tumbling down into place.

Install a Towel Bar on the Back of a Door

A towel bar on the back of a door is a great place to hang towels. It’s out of sight, but still accessible to use when you need it. This hack is especially useful if you have many bathrooms in your home that share the same set of towels.

This hack is also good if you don’t want to drill into your walls or cabinets to install a towel rack. It can help save money and energy by not having to hire someone else to do it for you!

  • Measure where on your door frame that would be most convenient for hanging towels; this will vary depending on what kind of cabinets and counters are present in your bathroom(s). You may decide that it would be best for getting in and out quickly without having anything obstructing their path too much (like an overhanging shelf), or maybe even just leaving room between them so they don’t get tangled up during use – whatever works best in these spaces based on how many people live here!

Use a Shower Curtain Rod in the Linen Closet

For example, a shower curtain rod can be used to hang your bath towels. The size and shape of the rod will depend on the size of your linen closet. In our case, since we had extra space on top of our linen closet.

Install Towel Bars in the Bathroom Cabinet

Installing towel bars in the bathroom cabinet is an ingenious way to get more use out of your space. Not only does it allow you to hang towels on the inside of the bathroom cabinet, but it also gives you extra storage for items that don’t fit on shelves.

Your towels will be easier to reach and more accessible too.

Window Valence for Towels

To create an instant towel valence, simply fold the top edge of your towels over the top of a curtain rod. The towels will conceal the rod and make it look like you have a valence above your sink or tub. This is especially great for bathrooms with no windows, because it makes it seem like there’s natural light coming in from somewhere else when there isn’t.

Tiered Baskets on a Shelf

The easiest way to keep kitchen towels, napkins and hand towels in place is by using tiered baskets for storing them. The longer the towel, the lower it should be placed. You can find these types of baskets in any store that sells home goods. If you don’t have any on hand, you can make your own using some tape and fabric scraps or even empty plastic bottles!

Use the Wall Behind Your Door as Storage Space

If you live in a studio apartment or a small space, the wall behind your door is an ideal place to store towels. Just hang them on hooks and they’re out of sight, but easily accessible when you need them.

Build Floating Shelves

  • Floating shelves are perfect for storing your extra towels.
  • You can even use the bottom of your linen closet as extra storage space.
  • The floating shelf will hold onto the wall with brackets, making it easy to install and take down when needed.

Ladder Towel Rack

In a friendly tone: You can bring the versatility of a ladder to your towel organization. This will help you keep them organized and off the ground, which will save space in your bathroom.

A Row of Pegs Along One Wall of the Bathroom

One of the easiest ways to organize your towels is by hanging them up on a row of pegs along one wall. This makes it easy to find both bath and hand towels, because they’re all in one place. You can also use this method if you want to keep larger items like beach towels folded neatly away out of sight.

If you don’t want anything hanging around the edges of your bathroom, consider using an over-the-door organizer instead. They come in different sizes and colors so that they’ll match any décor—and some even have shelves for storing extra toiletries or other essentials!

DIY Rolling Cart for Dirty Towels

This project is a great way to add extra storage space and make your bathroom look chic. It’s also a good solution if you live in a small apartment and don’t want to spend money on expensive cabinets or shelving units.

You’ll need:

  • A rolling cart or desk chair
  • Wood glue and wood screws (you can buy these at any hardware store)
  • An old towel or piece of fabric to cover the cart

Hanging Magazine Rack for Towels and Toilet Paper Rolls

What you need:

  • A magazine rack that can be installed on the wall
  • Towels you don’t mind displaying
  • Toilet paper rolls (or empty toilet paper tubes, if you don’t have any extra rolls)

Repurpose an Old Spice Rack into Hanging Storage for Towels, Soaps, and More

  • Try this simple hack to repurpose an old spice rack into hanging storage for towels, soaps, and more.
  • Hang the rack on a wall using two screws (the exact placement depends on the size of your rack).
  • Install hooks in the bottom of each compartment to hang items from. You can also use these hooks to hang jewelry or small toiletries that don’t fit well in other areas of your bathroom.

Use Wicker Baskets Under Your Sink to Hold Clean Bath Towels

  • Place wicker baskets under your sink to hold clean bath towels. It’s a great space-saving idea for small bathrooms and it also allows for more airflow under your sink, which will help prevent mold from growing in hard-to-reach places.
  • Store hand towels and washcloths on the inside of cabinet doors—and use magnetic hooks to hang them on!

Choose the right towel rack

If you’ve got a small bathroom, don’t try to crowd your towels on a narrow shelf. Instead, use space-saving hooks and racks that hang over the shower or toilet. You can even get creative with this solution and use hooks and racks that are mounted in different directions so they fit in any corner of your shower or bathtub area. If you have limited storage space, make sure you choose one that is easy to install and doesn’t require drilling holes into the back of your cabinet door frame or wall studs—this will help prevent damage later on if you ever want or need to move it again!

Decide what towels you want to keep on the racks

Now that you have all the towels you need, it’s time to figure out what will stay on the racks. There are many options here, but a general rule of thumb is that if you use a towel every day or two and find yourself thinking about it when you’re not in the bathroom (or washing your hands), then keep it on the rack.

For example:

If you use your hand towel every single time you wash your hands, keep it on the rack.

If your bath towel gets washed weekly and dries quickly enough so that there’s no smell by midday Monday after being used Saturday night, then keep it on the rack!

Use a hanging basket

  • You can use a hanging basket to organize your towels.
  • Put the basket on a shelf or in the shower and hang your towels from it. If you’re short on space, use wire coat hangers instead of plastic ones. It’ll keep those extra little rings out of the way while still keeping them accessible when you need them!

Hang more than one towel on each rack

Hang more than one towel on each rack.

When you’re spinning your towels, you want them to be able to dry quickly, so try hanging two or three towels on each rack. This will increase the surface area and air circulation around the items being dried, helping them dry much faster.

Coordinate the color of your towels for a coordinated look

You can coordinate all of your towels with a matching color scheme by using the same fabric for each one. This is perfect for those who like to have everything match, and it can also help to keep things organized if you have multiple people living in an apartment or house with limited space.

If you have children, this can be a good way to teach them about colors and how they relate to each other.

Keep towels thick and fluffy for easier drying

Damp bathroom towels are a breeding ground for mold. The more you can squeeze the water out of your towel, the better it will dry and help prevent the growth of mold spores. This is especially important if you have kids hanging out in there all day long, as they tend to use multiple towels throughout their day—and each time they do so, they’re adding moisture back into their towels through evaporation.

To really get those towels as absorbent as possible, hang them up and let them air-dry upside down after every use. You’ll notice how much fluffier they feel when you pull them down from the rack than when you put them up there!

Make sure your towel-drying rack is matching in color or design

  • Make sure your towel-drying rack is matching in color or design.
  • If you have a separate bathroom and kitchen, then you can have the same item out at both places.

Hang Towels in a Simple Basket

You can easily hang your towels in a simple basket, like the one below. This is a good choice if you have limited space and don’t have room for an extra towel bar or rack.

Add a Stacking Bathroom Shelf

You can make your own stacking bathroom shelf for towels or other bath items by adding small shelves between the existing shelves in your linen closet. You can even paint them to match the color of your walls if you want it to look more stylish.

Hang Towels from a Ladder

Hang your towels from a ladder. It’s the easiest way to hang linens, and it looks cute in any bathroom. If you don’t have space for a full-length ladder, try using one of these mini ones that can be stored away when not in use.

Use an Over-the-Toilet Rack to Store Linen

In this hack, we’re going to use an over-the-toilet rack (or any other unused space) to store linen. You can find a super cheap one at the dollar store, or if you want something sturdier, check out thrift stores for vintage or handmade ones. This is a great hack if you live in a small apartment with limited storage space and don’t want to spend money on new furniture just for towels!

First, hang your towel up on the rack and fold it in half so that both sides are showing. Then fold each side into thirds again—this time going opposite directions (so right over left). Now lay it flat so that all four folds are visible on each side of the towel—they should look like triangles! Finally fold each triangle into thirds again (over top of itself), making sure they end up neatly stacked together when done correctly!

Wall-Mount Tension Rods to Hold Baskets

You might not be able to see it, but there’s a big basket of dishtowels hanging on the wall next to your kitchen sink. How do I know? Because I’ve seen it in every home with a dishwasher.

It’s just like the baskets you used to organize your books in high school. The only difference is that they’ve been emptied out and used as towel holders instead of being filled with books (though if you want to get really creative, maybe there are some titles in there worth reading).

Create a DIY Vanity Tray with a Door Knob

You’re going to love this project! All you need is a door knob and some washers.

  • Remove the existing knob from your vanity cabinet or bathroom door. Use a screwdriver to remove it if necessary, but don’t lose any parts under there—you may need them later on in order to put everything back together correctly.
  • Place a washer over each of the two screws that were holding on your old handle, then secure them by tightening with your screwdriver again (or use an Allen wrench if you prefer). These will serve as mounts for the new handle when it’s done being assembled later on in step 4 below!

Find Creative Shelving Solutions

  • Install shelves.
  • Utilize the space between your cabinets and your stove.
  • Buy a tension rod, which is strong and easy to install.

Install a Tension Rod to Hang Towels

  • To hang towels on a tension rod, all you need is a tension rod (like this one) and some screw hooks.
  • Install your screw hooks near the top of your door or near where you want the towel bar to be so that towels will hang at an appropriate height. Make sure that the screw hooks are installed in studs, otherwise they’ll just fall right off!
  • Now that your towel bar is set up, place one end of it against the wall and secure it in place by marking where each screw hole should go. Then drill through those marks before installing screws—this will help keep everything sturdy when you’re done!

Use Incognito Storage Containers in Your Bathroom

  • The first thing you need to do is take a look at your bathroom. Do you have a lot of towels? How much space do they take up?
  • If the answer to the first question is yes and the second question is also yes, then it’s time to find some storage solutions for those towels!
  • You can use some simple bins that are on wheels so that they’re easy to move around as needed, but most people don’t want an ugly bin sitting out in their bathroom all day long (or even half of it). This means that having multiple smaller storage containers will work better than one large bin with wheels because these smaller jars are easier to hide beneath other things like toilet paper rolls or shampoos bottles so as not to distract from their beauty.

Store Towels on the Back of Your Closet Door

You’ve got a lot of towels, and they tend to take up a lot of room. What if you could store them on the back of your closet door? That way, when it’s bath time for your kids or guests, they would be right there where they can easily grab them without having to search through piles and piles of linen.

You’ll need:

  • Clothes hooks (the kind that have a wide base)
  • A hammer

Stack Old Crates in the Bathroom Corner

  • Stack old crates in the bathroom corner
  • Place the stacked crates on top of each other and position them so that they’re leaning against a wall. This will allow for more storage space without taking up much room, freeing up countertops for more towel organization ideas like this one:

Designate Clear Containers for Each Type of Towel or Washcloth

To help keep your towel organization system in place, you’ll want to designate clear containers for each type of towel or washcloth. For example, you could use one container for hand towels and one for bath towels. You could also have a container just for washcloths—these tend to be smaller than regular bath towels, so they don’t take up as much space. This way, when guests come over and need some extra towels during their stay (or if it’s time for a load of laundry), all they have to do is look in the designated container instead of opening up every drawer and cabinet in the bathroom!

If there’s not enough room on top of the dresser or vanity where all these different types are being stored, consider placing them into open shelves that go across an entire wall near where people usually dry off after showers. This way everyone will have easy access no matter where they’re standing while getting ready in the morning!

Throw Tons of Hooks on the Wall

To make the most of your wall space, throw as many hooks as you can on it. You don’t want to run out of room for towels and accessories, so add hooks every few inches if possible. If you do this, even those with a small amount of space can get creative with towel organization!

Store Your Fave Toiletries for Guests in the Guest Room

Putting some items in a drawer or cabinet can eliminate the need for guests to go searching through your bathroom drawers and cabinets. You could even create a little basket of toiletries they can use, so they don’t have to put their makeup on in the dark!

Make Your Bathroom Feel Like a Spa with a Plush Bench and Separate Laundry Basket for Dirty Linen

When you’re done washing and drying your towels, hang them on the towel bar in your bathroom or laundry room. If you have a separate laundry basket for dirty linens, place it next to the washer so that when you’re ready to wash, there’s no need to move anything around. If your dirty linen basket is part of the same set-up as your towels, simply leave it out of reach until laundry day comes around again.

Metal racks are a great option for storing your towels in an organized manner. You can also install these holders on your bathroom walls to keep them out of sight and dry.

Stack Containers One on Top of Another in Clever Ways, Such as Using Tin Buckets and Adding Handles

The stackable containers in this hack not only create a visually pleasing display, but they also allow for quick and easy access to each towel without having to dig through them. This is an especially great option for those who are using their towels as part of a gift basket.

These containers can be purchased at any craft store or even at the dollar store! These containers come in many different sizes and shapes so you’ll be able to find one that will fit your needs perfectly!
